5th January 2010

Swan Mill Paper Company Ltd ('Swantex') is pleased to announce the completion of the purchase of F Bender Ltd (Benders) tabletop business as of 5th January 2010.

The transition period that followed the deal initially being announced in September has now finished and Benders will cease to supply the tabletop category with immediate effect.

David Byk, Group Managing Director of Swantex said: "The period between the initial annoucement and now has gone smoothly, allowing us ample time to work, plan and communicate with our customers without creating unwanted distractions through the important Christmas trading period. Plus, we are completing the transaction at, traditionally, one of the quietest periods of the year to minimise any distruption".

"It is a very positive and forward looking acquistion for us and we are very happy to have reached agreement with the vast majority of customers and are now on schedule to hit the key targets we put in place when planning this transaction."

Swan Mill will be moving the Benders' machines to their facility within the next two months, which will create spare capacity at the Swantex site for further growth in the UK and overseas, on top of the 4.8 billion napkins they expect to make in 2010.

This acquistion now makes Swantex the market leading tabletop producer in the UK, encompassing napkins and tablecoverings plus tableware categories, such as cutlery, straws, plates, doilies and Christmas crackers.

Swantex has launched their biggest ever Christmas range of crackers, hats, party products and complementing tableware

Swan Mill is delighted to Rank 34th place in the Sunday Times 2012 International Track 200, which ranks the private companies with the fastest growing international sales over the last two years.

It recognises the 79% annual international sales growth which Swan Mill has enjoyed from export sales of the UK manufactured tableware products. This extraordinary growth is a result of the sales to Europe of the tableware products manufactured in the UK and also the success of our Hong Kong operation, Swantex Asia.

Swantex Asia (SwA) is based in Hong Kong and was set up only 4 years ago to enable us to offer Swan Mills range of products on a FOB basis directly from China, and it now deals with companies in countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Russia, Germany and the UK.

SwA also supports the Swan Mill group with their procurement, QA, ethical sourcing and scheduling requirements, ensuring a presence on the ground in China with experienced Mandarin speakers.

This growth is set to continue in 2012-13 with the sales forecast for Swantex Asia being set to increase turnover by $2.5 million (circa 1.5 million) on top of sales generated by the Swanley Export division.

With the offer of great design and product SwA is capable of supplying the catering wholesaler or large retailer with categories such as tableware, Christmas crackers, gift packaging, straws, cutlery, cups and Christmas decorations.

A new area, which Swantex Asia started supplying directly from China a year ago, is the Home Baking category and they now supply 20 million cupcake cases per month, plus coordinated cake boxes and cake stands, to customers such as Sainsburys and Tesco in the UK and Woolworths in Australia.
